Gr 5-12: Traditional Knowledge Keepers

Traditional Knowledge Keepers – Video Series

In 2020-2021, unable to meet in-person, our Traditional Knowledge Keepers reached out to share their knowledge through video.  Hear from Knowledge Keeper Harold Lavallee from Piapot First Nation speak about National Indigenous Peoples Day and the Summer Solstice, Reflections on Earth Day or Winter Life.  Joely BigEagle-Kequahtooway and Lorne Kequahtooway of the Buffalo People Arts Institute share about the Winter Solstice, Smudge Ceremony and several videos about the Buffalo.  Our deepest thanks to all the Knowledge Keepers who adapted so well to the video platform and gifted their knowledge to all of us. The Traditional Knowledge Keepers Program is presented in partnership with the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation.

The Royal Saskatchewan Museum and T.rex Discovery Centre are situated on Treaty 4 territory, the ancestral and traditional territory of the nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakoda, and the homeland of the Métis/Michif Nation. We respect and honour the Treaties that were made on all territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we are committed to moving forward in partnership with Indigenous Nations in the spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
