Work At The Museum

Working at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum

With summer being our busiest time, we hire seasonal staff to help us create a dynamic experience for our Museum visitors at both our Royal Saskatchewan Museum (Regina, Saskatchewan) and T.rex Discovery Centre (Eastend, Saskatchewan) locations. We house an extensive provincial research collection and hire applicants to assist in preparing, studying and cataloguing artifacts, specimens and objects. For community focused and volunteer opportunities, the Friends of the Royal Saskatchewan Museum group seek candidates to fill positions on their board of directors and the gift shop.

How To Apply

Take a look at what we have available below and then go to the Government's Summer Student Program page (for students), Permanent Labour Service opportunities (for non-students), and Young Canada Works (for students and graduates) to apply.

Please note: To be eligible for student employment programs you must be attending and returning to school on a full-time basis. Proof of student status may be requested.

Job Opportunities

SUMMER INTERNSHIP: Palaeontology Lab and Collections Internships

Paleontology Lab

We are seeking students to work as Lab and Collections Interns in Palaeontology at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Regina this summer. These positions will primarily involve helping to catalogue and database fossils in the RSM collection, as well as preparing fossils and searching for insects trapped in amber. The work will involve training in a much broader range of lab and analytical techniques, which may include fieldwork (in southern Saskatchewan), preparing dinosaur bones, stable isotope measurements, pollen analysis, scientific illustration, and 3D modelling work.

Candidates must be continuing undergraduate students or graduate students registered at the University of Regina. Ideal candidates will have at least one year of post-secondary education in geology, biology, palaeontology, or a related discipline. Experience with databases, microscopes, photography, and animal identification would be considered assets. Ultimately, we are looking for hard-working students who are eager to learn and experience something new—particularly if the experience can help shape their future studies.

The successful candidates will need to work well as part of an academic team, and basic details of the lab groups involved can be found through the following websites

Employment is for 16 weeks, beginning as early as May 5, 2025 and ending August 31, 2025, at $18 to 22 per hour.

Please email applications that include a cover letter and resume to: Dr. Ryan McKellar (Curator of Palaeontology, RSM); ryan.mckellar@gov.sk.ca

The application deadline is April 11, 2025, and only suitable candidates will be contacted for an interview.
