Conservation Assistant

The Friends of the Royal Saskatchewan Museum is seeking an up-and-coming Historian to work as a conservation assistant at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum in Regina, Saskatchewan. The position will focus on the conservation and care of paper-based documents in the Indigenous Studies collection. You can expect to have hands-on experience assisting with conservation treatments. You will also work with communications staff to develop social media posts about your experience working at the Royal Saskatchewan Museum and increase the public’s knowledge and appreciation for Saskatchewan’s Indigenous history.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • You must have at least one year of university study in Indigenous Studies, History, Anthropology, Fine Arts, Chemistry, or a related field and be returning to studies in the fall.
  • You are able to work independently, but just as importantly, are able to work effectively and respectfully with other summer students and RSM employees.
  • You must have an eagerness to learn and experience a natural history museum atmosphere/workplace.

Additional Preferred (but not required) Qualifications*

  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle fragile and valuable objects with care.
