
Beaded PRIDE Pins Workshop
Honour Indigenous History Month and Pride Month with two-spirit Michif/Nêhiyaw/settler artist Dani LaValley. In this workshop participants will learn how to create contemporary Métis flat-stitch beadwork pins that represent their identity. This includes beading assorted pride flags or descriptive words to wear or gift to others.
No experience necessary, open to ages (13+). Beginner to intermediate participants welcome. This is a safe space, bigotry will not be tolerated. Allies welcomed! Materials will be provided. Registration is $25 per person. If cost is a barrier, please contact us at info@royalsaskmuseum.ca.

10:00am – 12:00pm || Workshop part I
12:00pm – 1:00pm || Lunch break (lunch is not included but there is a microwave, sink and fridge available for use)

Dani LaValley is a two-spirit Michif/Cree/settler artist and educator born on Treaty 6 territory. Their family names are LaValley and Flammond/Flamont, who come from Treaty 4 territory including Crooked Lake, Cowessess First Nation, and Regina. LaValley is a SUNTEP alum, and has worked in Regina as an educator since 2022. They have been a self taught beadwork artist since 2016, making beaded jewelry as gifts for friends and loved ones. LaValley has used the artist name Deadly Beads since 2021 to share their beading journey online during the pandemic. LaValley’s art is influenced by their cultures and relationship with the land. They share their beading skills and knowledge with youth and adults in their community through beading classes, clubs, and circles. LaValley attends local markets and events to trade and sell their creations. Dani currently lives, teaches, and creates on Treaty 4 territory in oskana kâ-asastêki/Opushtow lii zoo (Where They Pile the Bones/Regina).
