  • Height: 10-20 m
  • Produces a heavy, durable wood used mainly for pulp but also for posts, poles, and fuel
  • Tamarack comes from an Algonquin word, akemantak, meaning "wood used for snowshoes"
  • Needles grow in tufts of 10 to 25 and are 2 to 3 cm long
  • Found in every province and territory in Canada
