Board of Directors (Volunteer Position)

The Friends of the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (the “Friends”) is looking for motivated individuals to fill four vacancies on its Board of Directors (the “Board”).

The Friends is a non-profit organization which provides services and financial assistance to the Royal Saskatchewan Museum (the “Museum”). Board members sit on various committees, including the Friends’ Governance Committee and its Audit & Finance Committee. The Governance Committee is responsible for the development of general Board policies and procedures, as well as the recruitment of new directors.  The Audit & Finance Committee is responsible for the financial management and oversight of the Friends.

Time Commitment

Board meetings are typically scheduled on a weekday night, 6 times per year. Board members typically spend 4 – 6 hours per month fulfilling their responsibilities to the Board and committee work. Attendance at the Board’s major annual fundraising event is expected. Board members will also be asked to assist with ticket sales for this event.

The Friends seeks individuals who are enthusiastic about promoting and preserving Saskatchewan’s natural history and Indigenous cultures. Those with financial/accounting skills, background in communications, external relations and community affiliation are particularly needed by the Board. However, we encourage all interested persons to apply. The Friends is particularly looking for persons of Indigenous ancestry to join our Board. Candidates must 18 years of age or older.
